Today I'm taking my art outside cos the weather has been so nice. The world is my gallery! To celebrate I decided to do something a bit different. When TW takes a pic that's too dark, we use the Auto Tone or Auto Color to brighten it. That, in fact, takes the yellow out of pics with artificial lighting. If it's still too dark, we try the levels adjustment. Occasionally the images will turn out usable and sometimes they turn out artsy like my lead photo on Wednesday.
If TW is trying to make a pic lighter, she clicks on the far right brush and clicks a light part of the image. Not having taken any Photoshop classes, she doesn't know if what she's doing is right or wrong but it tends to help more than the exposure setting and is quicker than playing with the brightness/contrast.
To make this art, she selected the light tone dropper. Instead of playing by the rules and clicking on my white chest, she selected on my dark Russian Blue furs. The result is almost a pastel drawing.
Then we played around with the midtones and got a very colorful, almost posterized effect. No one would believe that's a red wall behind me. Heh heh.
I figured you guys are tired of that first pic, so I played with another one from the same set of pics. Instead of levels, we decided to play with curves and then we used the accented edges filter. I hope you can biggify it to see the precious look on my face.
I'll bet you guys with Photoshop Elements can play around with this too and come up with some inneresting art. On the other hand, you guys who know PS are prolly shaking your heads. Sometimes ignorance can turn into some blissful art. Did you ever click something you didn't mean to and create something wonderful?
Thanks to Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty for hosting the Caturday Art Blog Hop so I can mess around with Photoshop and all the cool online apps that are so easy a cat can do them.
My human hasn't had time to play around with Photoshop for a while - she needs to do that with more pics of me!
ReplyDeleteI love these effects. I am not very good at figuring out photoshop aside from the very basic stuff. Need to find some time to have some fun with it!
ReplyDeleteOh you are so artsy CK we always enjoy your Caturday Artwork.
ReplyDeleteYou are the most stunning artist CK!
ReplyDeleteI am impressed, I figured TW had taken classes in photoshop. Very nice effects.
ReplyDeleteYour artwork is lovely. My mum couldn't create something even if it hit her in the face.

C.K., our dad uses PhotoShop and LightRoom, but our mom doesn't know a thing about either. Nevertheless, she knows you created some very nice art. She loves to experiment as well. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful images. I especially love the one with the pretty pastel colors!
ReplyDeletewell at least TW dedicates TIME to making your photos even more stunning than they already are, CK! Ours is "too busy" to photoshop lately *cough*cough*
ReplyDeleteIs Auto Tone the same thing as Auto Adjust in PicMonkey or more sophisticated? I really wish I had the courage (and the time) to learn PS.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. The mom really needs to learn PhotoShop.
ReplyDeleteLookin' good CK! The Hood never looked so good! catchatwithcarenandcody

ReplyDeleteLooks like the TW is doing something right, even if she's never taken a Photoshop class. You should definitely get a big billboard to display your art on, CK.

ReplyDeleteHi CK - I love the photo of your with the red wall. All the photos are super artsy. My mom plays around with photo art too. Sometimes the best stuff comes when she has no idea what she's doing.
ReplyDeleteCK all your art work is very well done. You see, you got us picking favourites now. My fave is the 2nd. picture. It reminds me of the song, "Blue by you." You are blue....not sad just blue.
