Please Remove Berets 4 a Fallen Comrade

Long ago and far away, I signed on to Twitter. One day I was shocked by the beauty of an avatar I saw on my timeline. It was a black cat; a stunning black cat. She was as stunning as I and I think she knew it. She was wearing an incredible hat and over the weeks and months, she became known for her hats that changed with the seasons and her moods.

Her name was @JessieJaney but she was also the #WLF Mad Hatter. I am totally straight but I was smitten. I'm never at a loss for words but I could hardly talk to this gorgeous panfur. I shyly axed her if she could make a couple of hats for this little ghetto kitteh. This was years before I knew Glogirly and TW started playing with PhotoShop. She axed what I’d like. I axed for a “do-rag” with the WLF (Whiskers Liberation Front) badge that she designed. Everyone else was sporting berets; but I, of course, had to be different. I also axed for an avatar with a Yankee hat cos I didn’t have one at the time. She responded quickly.

Some of the avatars @JessieJaney designed for me.
I feel the need to mention that she always complimented the music I played at #Nipclub and she was a huge fan of the singer Pink. She made me one too. I was in awe of her prowess as a mouser. I even blogged about it.

December 26, 2013, we lost our @WLFMadHatter (Click to see just some of the hundreds of anipals she hatted.) as Jessie’s huMUM Jane left her Earthly body. At this point, I’m going to direct you to two other blogs because I can’t match the eloquence of their prose or their love for Jane. The first is Thomas Archers’ Aunty Jane. Just reading the comments and seeing the love makes my eyes leaky. Our furrend MariodaCat’s Mom did a heartfelt New Year Tribute to a Special Friend. Lastly, here’s a post from Jessie & Jane’s own blog which shows what sweeties they were.

A few of the many faces of Jessie taken from Jessie and Jane’s Twitpic.
In the world of Twitter, when an anipal dies, they’re only gone in body. Their humans feel the loss because they can no longer hug their fur children. Days later, they appear back on Twitter in Angel form for the rest of us. When a human passes away, it’s for real. It’s for keeps. The Twitter world has lost both Jane and Jessie. Steps are being taken to find out what has become of Jessie. We are far better anipals and people for having known them. Anipal Twitter mourns one of the good ones. RIP Jane.

  3. What a lovely tribute to Jane, Baby Girl. My eyes get leaky every time I read the words of fellow anipals and friends. Jane was such a wonderful woman. She and Jane were always so good to me. I'm glad I received her Christmas card and was able to thank her before she passed away. I'm also glad she received mine. Rest in peace, sweet Jane. I'll love you forever.

  19. Beautiful post CK. You have such a way with words. We still have leaky eyes here at times. I have lost the picture of Mario wearing that hat\ that's in the group picture. Maybe I can lift it from your photo. I've lost a bunch of pictures somehow (don't ask me how) and that is one of them. That was my favorite hat picture too. Jane was a special person and her void will be felt for a long time.
