Feral Friday: Stand Up to Cancer

Hola kitties! This is gonna be a brief one. Just some fill-ins and art. Today is Stand Up to Cancer Day so I do have to mention TW's fight with the killer C. It's also International Sudoku Day, which is one of the things that takes up her time so she can't comment on you guys' blogs.

Feral Friday: Stand Up to Cancer

Stand Up To Cancer Day is observed every second Friday of September. It is a day for creating cancer awareness. It is also a time to support the fight against cancer, using various means. There are many new treatments and ways to cure/control this disease which affects practically every family at some point. TW's can't be cure but this month marks the second year she's been battling.

She's luckier than many others cos she's able to go to one of the countries' three leading cancer hospitals. She has faith in her doctor and her cat-loving rocknroll nurse navigator has her back. All of this is possible cos she has really good health insurance which has paid 100% of her treatment. If you're signing up for Medicare this year, she can give you some sage advice regarding plans.

We've lost Gramps, Gramma, Faith and Autumn through the years. Tell us in the comments who you're standing up for. Create a tribute placard with the name of a loved one who you stand up for and share on social media so I can see it.

Friendly Fill-ins

Let's now answer some Friendly Fill-Ins, a weekly feature held at this time, which is already in progress. Our hosts—15andmeowing and Four Legged Furballs—need no innerductions as they are giants in the cat blogging world. They think up the fill-ins and I fill in the answers. My answers are boldface. This week my image relates to number one.

Feral Friday: Stand Up to Cancer

1. A pleasant memory that I have from grade school is biting the teacher. Ok, you got me. I'll admit I never went to grade school. I went right to a high school for gifted students cats. TW doesn't remember that far back or I'd ax her. Pop's memory isn't that pleasant since it involves the kids ushered into the halls to learn of JFK's assassination and all the teachers crying.

2. My plans this month include sleeping as much as possible and eating as little as possible. TW doesn't think I eat enough but I think I eat plenty. She just feeds me too much when I'm not hungry.

3. Please don't ask me to choose between brushies and FURmination. I get off on either about the same.

4. In 15 years, I see myself as the oldest living cat. And I'll still be stunning.

Caturday Art

Pablo Picasso said "Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life". I hope my pencil sketch will wash it away for you. My tail may have smudged it a little bit but in all the right places.

Feral Friday: Stand Up to Cancer

Caturday Art is hosted by the lovely Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty and her mum to showcase how talented us anipal artists are. We can use the many different digital apps, Photoshop or share original art.

I'm yawning but I hope you're not yawning when you read this post. Don't forget to tell me who you're standing up for today and every day.

  7. Mine Mommy says that once upon a time she stood up for her Daddy, for her little brother and for her special Poppy Vic, sadly though they all fell down and she kind of fell down for awhile with them. But that was long ago and they are still in her heart of hearts. Today she will "STAND UP and STAND STRONG" for YOU and
she kind of knows (in the same heart) that you are not gonna fall down. She doesn't know why, her heart won't tell her why, I guess that's a secret or something, but you are going to stand up TW, today and every day to come, fur sure. Really, fur sure.

  15. I'm glad you bit your teacher, CK, I wish I knew you back then, as there's a teacher that needed a bitey too😸 Granny has lost all of her family in 10 years on Cancer, also two of her best girlfurriends a few years ago and another best girlfurriend when she was only 13 years, and a few bloggers that we've known😿 We're so glad that TW and effurryone who have to fight against it, are still here and hopefully they will overcome it. Our purrayers go out to all of you and we stand up for all of them too🙏 Your art is as always stunning! Pawkisses from Heaven to you and Little Peachy and Stippie try to send one too🙈🐾😽✨

  16. I have a friend who fought kidney cancer. They removed all they could see in his first surgery, and he had 10 more good years before it returned with a vengeance. We said goodbye to him last year.

That Caturday Art is quite unique. When you look at it from a distance it just looks like certain areas are shaded, but up close it's little pencil strokes. Magic, I say. And you are stunning in all of your myriad manifestations.

  17. We are glad that TW is such a fighter, has good insurance, and can go to such amazing cancer care centers. We are purring and praying for her, and sending love and all good thoughts! My dad was a fighter, too. He defied the odds, and lived with an incurable brain tumor for almost 18 years. The doctors were astounded, and at a loss to explain it. We were so lucky to have him for so many more years.

  18. Sending healing thoughts to TW. Your answers to the fill ins were great as always. Have a good weekend!

  19. Beautiful sketch. Sending healing purrs and thoughts to TW x

  20. Purring and purraying for TW. You are right, there are so many new treatments these days - and early diagnosis also helps. Many of these did not exist when Grandma M., Mummy's Mummy, lost her battle with cancer nearly 50 years ago. We neffur knew her. Also Mummy's grandma and her auntie and her cousin.
We are happy TW has good insurance - although We think EFFURRYONE should be able to get taxpayer-funded medical treatment, without having to worry if their insurance will cover it and without co-pays.

  21. Hi CK! We are sorry that we are late! Our human has had a furry busy week - but she has been furry good at making excuses for NOT helping! The big C has affected our lives. We have lost some impawatant furrends and family. We are so glad that TW is doing well (and that she has great health care and she is in our purrayers every day). We LOVE your sketch! It is totally fabulishious (we are a little jealous, Mom's Art computer has been packed up since the painting and new flooring started - we will be happy when all the banging and splashing is finally done. maybe the Mom moaning will stop too! We send TW loads of hugs and I (Marv) send you head bonks and whisker kisses. Your #1 Fan Boy - Marv
