Hola kitties! 2021 treating you OK? You shoulda been in the condo last
Sunday! More appropriately it was more like FUNday. I've been waiting for
action like this for months. The peeps did two loads of laundry including TW's
sheets. She decided that Pop should help her turn over her queen-size mattress
something they've done many times before.
The peeps were turning it upside down. They lifted the mattress over the
head of the bed. Then TW discovered she couldn't move the bottom of the
mattress. Thinking Pop had a good grip on the top of the mattress, she let
go to pull on the bottom with both hands. He didn't. The entire weight of
the mattress came down on her head and left shoulder; the one she had
trouble with a couple of months ago. She said it felt like she was hit by a
bus.
For dinner, we were having part of the leftover ham from New Year's day
complete with the leftover gravy. You might think you know where this is
headed but you might not be right. The gravy is made up of brown sugar, orange
juice and pineapple juice. It's sticky.
Pop smashed the potatoes and TW nuked the gravy. While she was setting the table, she suddenly heard a loud crash and something breaking as Pop brought the hot gravy over to the table. When he opened the microwave door, he pushed a glass off the counter. Not any glass; TW's Waterford glass. The glass hit and broke Pop's little drummer boy Nutcracker toy. TW was besides herself and Pop was on his hands and knees mopping up water still in the glass. They looked all over for the glass which TW thought might still be saved. Just as TW went to look on the chair, Pop moved the chair.
CRASH! SMASH! TINKLE! PING! The Waterford crystal
shattered into a million pieces. I came running over with my notebook to take
notes for this blog. Hey, you can always count on me to be wherever there's
broken glass! They turned on the overheads and TW got out the evil vacuum to
pick up the smaller pieces of glass that Pop couldn't by hand. All the while,
their dinner was getting cold. Even worse than the fact that dinner was late,
was the fact that the ham was still wrapped up and I couldn't get at it while
they were preoccupied. Well, at least I got a blog post out of it.
One last note: the microwave was full of the sticky gravy and had to be
cleaned up. [Ed. note: they should teach cleaning with vinegar in Home Ec.

Friendly Fill-Ins
Now it's time to join the Friendly Fill-Ins, a weekly feature held at this
time, which is already in progress. Our hosts—15andmeowing
and
Four Legged Furballs—need no innerductions as they are giants in the cat blogging world. They
think up the fill-ins and I fill in the answers. My answers are underlined and
in italics. This week my image relates to all—or none—of the fill-ins. Take
your pick
2. The luckiest I have ever been was when I found my furever castle.
3. I never thought I would get older, but I did. Can you believe Pop called me geriatric the other day? I'd expect it out of TW but not Pop.
4. I'm waiting for Godot, whoever that it. Spoiler alert: Godot never shows up. HAH!
Caturday Art
I've been working on this still-life of a bathroom sink for a long time, but
it needed something. Finally I figured it out. It needed a stunning cat as I
painted myself on the edge of the sink. Yep, that's what it needed.
Caturday Art is hosted by the lovely
Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty
and her mum to showcase the latest art by anipal artists using the many
different digital apps, Photoshop or original art.
Wow, it sounds like a Laurel and Hardy movie at your house. Only maybe not so funny.
ReplyDeleteYikes! Not a good way for the peeps to start the year. I hope TW has recovered from the mattress falling on her. That is sad about their stuff breaking. I bet she can find the glass at replacements ltd online. I only broke Emmy's glass plate on New Year's Day, but we have plenty more. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. I am glad you found such a loving home. I had to look up Godot- I learned something new. I love your art. I wish there was a puzzle, but after the week TW had, I can see why there is not. XO
ReplyDeleteDang CK, what an exciting time you've had, well, maybe not for TW and Pop. Those were good answers and stunning art of course!
ReplyDeleteA series of unfortunate events, poor peeps! I love your art and your fill-ins. Have a wonderful, injury free weekend everyone!
ReplyDeleteWe know it was good for blog reporting but we know the parents are upset how things went and Dad sends his support. He says when one thing goes wrong you can bet he will have something else right afterwards.
ReplyDeleteGreat fill ins! I feel much the same and am going to be 14 this year. Yikes
Timmy T
Yikes, what a rough time of it for the peeps, CK. Hope all is better now. Your art is very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteNever a dull moment there, that's for sure!!! Glad TW wasn't badly hurt! Sorry about the crystal...ouch! Love your artwork!
ReplyDeleteYikes on the mattress hurt. Yikes.
ReplyDeleteDinner was delayed and you lost a fine piece of crystal too. Not good. I love that you covered the ham though. You can't trust a kitty around ham.
Love all your fill-ins. I'm geriatric too. We've earned it.
Have a fabulous day and weekend. My best to your peeps. ♥
We gotta tell you CK, this post made our Mom laugh so hard, COFFEE came out her nose! We love it when that happens. THis Friday has been the best! We are sorry the Waterford got broken...your Mom had mattresses dumped on her head and that the microwave got cleaned and that the Ham was wrapped. AND we LOVE your art this week. Terrific as always! That is more excitement than is needed to start the week. I hope TW is okay after having a mattress land on her. I think the microwaves are starting a revolution. Mine blew up on Tuesday! I just wanted a quick lunch of a can of vegetable soup. The cup had only been in the microwave for 30 seconds and I heard a big bang. The door had blown open, the cup was upside down and the turntable was on top of it. There was vegetable soup everywhere, up the walls, all over the cupboards, you wouldn't think there was so much soup in one can. My new microwave arrived from Amazon yesterday so I am happy again.
ReplyDeletePS: Your art is lovely.
Deletewhat in the wide world happened to make your microwave do that? You gotta wonder!
DeleteYour art is just gorgeous! I've been waiting for that mattress story. I'm glad everyone survived last Sunday...geez!
ReplyDeleteWow, that was a lot bad things happening at your place. Hopefully things smoothed out after that.
ReplyDeleteWe don't mean to laugh but it sure sounds like a big mess. Sorry about TW's glass and Pop's nutcracker.
ReplyDeleteFabulous artwork!
The Florida Furkids
Gorgeous art!
ReplyDeleteAwesome art, CK! We're sorry to hear about TW's special glass and Pop's Nutcracker toy breaking. :(
ReplyDeleteWe also hope TW is recuperating from the mattress incident!
You HAVE been having an eventful time, no doubt about that!
ReplyDeleteHowever, at least your art turned out really well! We just love, love, love your Kittychen sink picture (get it? - mol)
Thanks for rushing over and taking notes so we could enjoy the chaos that happens over at your place.
ReplyDeleteYour house is a treasure trove of excitement!
ReplyDeleteI got laughing I'm afraid...my whiskers even tickled ME as I laughed at you rushing over with your notebook. There ain't no buddy like you CK. Not no buddy! Your are a repurrter extraordinaire!
ReplyDeleteMaybe we should start taking more notes here. Our mom is always good for a laugh. MOL
