Kitties! How good to see you! This cat is feeling trippy today. I prolly should have done some St. Patrick's Day art but compromised by wearing this cool hat. I can't wait to tell you more about the art I created this week. For Christmas, my furrend Tiny Pearl Cat from Twitter sent me a bag of her special Buzz Nip and I've been hitting it a bit hard the past few days. I'm seeing pink cats and flying squirrels.
I promised you that I was going to create some art in Photoshop and I did. I'm trying to recall my artistic secrets. I used an image that you're gonna see later this week on St. Paddy's Day.
First I played around with the levels to change the original colors a bit. Then I added some little speckles with a texture at a low opacity and finally went wild with an abstract psychedelic overlay. I wanted to make an effect similar to a Dreamscope filter. Here's what I came up with.
I wondered what would happen if I actually used Dreamscope on my already abstract image. I couldn't quite find the effect I wanted so I just grabbed a Monet one. Not the best choice.
Then I brought the original PS image into another app and tried a painting effect which brought out some shamrocks as well as brightened the other colors. How do you like my fuchsia furs?
It's all about experimenting with
I'm participating in the Caturday Art Blog Hop. Thanks to Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty for hosting it every week. If you'd like to see more Caturday art, click the link or the badge.

This week's photo challenges.
Living in a concrete jungle where there isn't much nature, I decided to show the volatile side of Ma Nature. The first pic you've seen before. This was taken on the drive to Blogpaws in Nashville. As we were driving, a tornado was forming off to our right. Scary stuff!
The second was taken last week. NYC is being swallowed by a storm. I added a filter to this one but left the tornado pic as it was. The tops of some of the buildings are in the storm clouds.
I did not participate in this week's Pet Photography Challenge because the theme was The Other End of the Leash. I realize that some cats like Summer Samba and Binga love walking on a leash but I consider the theme speciesism and I told them that. Many of the upcoming themes are dog-centric. I have a feeling that maybe they don't want cats taking part in the challenge. They said we could use a wand toy rather than a leash but I decided to register a silent protest by not participating. I give them the Back of Disrespect.
Ma Nature must be having hot and cold flashes; either that or she's off her meds. One day we had 60F/15C and the next 30F/-1C and snow. I must say for how hard it snowed yesterday, it didn't stick on the streets or sidewalks. The coming week is going to stay cold with possibly a major snow event on Monday night. Is anybuddy else having a bipolar winter?
Oh, that nip must be grand, as this artwork is so very stunning, CK! We love the colors, and they make us think of Spring. But, like you, Mother Nature is going a bit bipolar on us. After days and days of gorgeous, warm weather, we are back to freezing temps and snow. Well, we'll just keep staring at your art to warm us up.
ReplyDeleteNip sure looks like it is fun:)
ReplyDeleteThat art is pretty wild CK but darn pretty!
ReplyDeleteWe have the same weather here in Massachusetts. I know I live in New England, but Mother Nature needs to make up her mind. Your art looks great.
ReplyDeleteI love your back of disrespect photo, CK! I do enjoy walking on my leash and wish more cats did it, but you are right, there is no place for speciesism.
ReplyDeleteI love your buzzy art, too!
That nip is good stuff isn't it - it's special blend and the best there ever was. Love your art work. Also loved the photography - especially the skyline of NYC. I'm coming over right now to help you swat your nasty bug!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are so creative!

Yep, winter is crazy pants. Two nights ago the humans walked to a restaurant a couple of blocks away for dinner. It was 70 degrees at 6:30 p.m. Now it is mid-day and in the low 40s. It's supposed to be cold all wee with nighttime temps in the 20s. Storm is iffy for us. We liked your art today, C.K. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy
ReplyDeleteYou look lovely in Fuchsia. When I trip on nip I see pigs on curtain poles and ponies sitting on the sofa.
ReplyDeleteFuchsia is definitely your color, CK! And good for you for protesting! The weather is nuts...fingers, toes and paws crossed that the nor'easter they're predicting is a dud.
ReplyDeleteI love your art and the shamrocks you added in. Good job protesting the challenge, everything in this world seems geared for dogs.

ReplyDeletewe just love how talented and creative you are each week on Caturday!oH Wow! that Tornado was scareeeeee!!!!!!!!!EEK
Beautiful art...I had a bit of nip too. Maybe it takes nip eyes to appreciate your efforts.
ReplyDeleteMother Nature produces effects from hell sometimes. Glad she's not my mother. She seems moody.

Mes trying to gets Mommy to does some stuff with just photoshop again, but, alas, time is at a premium around here and mes is demanding cuddles a lot these days.

You are a very psychedelic kitty!
ReplyDeleteHello Darling, You know, my Old Bat is just going to have to work harder to learn some of these cool effects and stuff. She keeps seeing all the other kitties' Humans doing a bunch of cool stuff (like YOURS, for example) and mine never does nuffing at all! It's an outrage. I love your back ;-) I sent you a FB message earlier . . . hope you'll be here soon! XOXOXO
ReplyDeleteMaybe Mother Nature isn't bipolar, just menopausal. haha
ReplyDeleteMy favorite of your images is the on that I think you called the Monet one...the one with the blue. Beautiful. :)
Have a blessed day.
That must be some strong nip! It really opened up a new form of creativity. I love your fuchsia furs :)
ReplyDeleteYour nippy art is terrific ! Purrs
ReplyDeleteI do like the second one with Monet effect. Reminds me of his water lilies paintings :-) And I love your fuchsia furs!
ReplyDeleteOooo...the Back of Disrespect. Yikes! But I agree, most cats don't use leashes.
