Wednesday Word—Dogs

Beagle photo is public domain.

Look carefully at this stunning face. Do I look like a dog? Gasp! Sputter! TW has been called a dog and that’s understandable. But, apparently, several pet food companies have mistaken this face for a dog.

Yes, it’s true. Last week, on two consecutive days, we got a call from the concierge that I had a package waiting for me downstairs. Both days I waited in anticipation for TW to bring the package inside the condo so I could inspect. Here’s what I found. The horror!

What the hiss??

First Pet Naturals of Vermont sent me a bag of their hip and joint treats for large dogs. Melissa and Truffles had sent me a bag of their hip and joint treats for cats but I wouldn’t eat them so I certainly wouldn’t eat the dog version.

The following day, Merrick Pet Care sent a box of dog treats complete with menus, napkins and doggy bags. It was really cute. Apparently, they sent them as a gift to those on their mailing list. I’d like to review them but I’m not about to eat dog food even though Pop once ate a dog cookie.  They are grain- and gluten-free. Pop probably would have liked the ones with sweet potatoes. He’s odd that way. It was a sweet idea although I’m wishing for some of their cat Purrfect Bistro instead.
Sniff, sniff! I give it the side of disrespect.

Even though I sometimes exhibit some woofie traits, I’m not chill about eating their food. I admit I sometimes greet Pop at the door although I don’t bring his slippers or bark at him. I do sometimes follow the peeps around but I lead just as often. I also like to play fetch. TW throws the toy and then I watch her fetch it. But me a dog? No way José.

Fortunately, last week, Linda from A Call 4 Paws came over. We had a huge cat food donation ready for her. The peeps really don’t feed me kibble so the rescue cats reap the rewards. Since Linda has 12 woofies, she gladly took the dog treats off my paws.

I hope you’re giving them those dog treats too!
What would you cats out there do if a company sent you dog food? Would you review it or blog about it?

If you want to see some stunning photos of myself when I was younger, head over to the Tabby Cat Club.

Would you like to comment?

  2. Well, it was nice of them to send it but I'd probably be disappointed too =/ Sometimes, if I get cat stuff I will give it to my mom for her cats. Or I'll save it for a giveaway for my cat readers. Shiner got that same Merrick box and it's really nice. I'm sure your friend's dogs are pretty happy at least!

  3. I'd EAT it if I could get to it, I try to steal da pup's food all da time. Momma always tries to stop me.

  4. As long as the food is nommy, we'll eat it! ;)

  5. I would be wholly insulted if dog stuff arrived on my doorstep! I would not even allow things meant for a lesser species to come through my door.

  6. Sweet Purrfections said that they got a dog package recently, too, so it seems to be going around. It makes us curious about the number of dog vs. cat bloggers out there. But you sure don't look anything like a dog, CK!

  11. Poor you!!! We would just donate it too :) I'm sure Linda's woofies are very happy!

  12. Strange anyone would send you dog treats, CK. Now we love to get dog treats. And cat treats. And even human treats we could steal from Jan. Maybe they had you confused with us? :)

  13. I give all the doggy stuff that comes my way to friends with dogs. It doesn't happen furry often.

  14. Now 'that' would really hack me off, totally. And the shame...it happened twice in same week! If this is BP vendor reviews I would be having a word with BP..just sayin'. And you BFGF, stunning as always!

  15. So silly! You are most clearly a beautiful kitty!

  16. You certainly don't look like a dog. But glad the treats will be passed to woofies. We actually got dog food sample before, too, and we donated it to shelter woofies.

  17. Well that is just crazy! I am thinking that if people are going to take the time to send something to someone, they should probably make sure it's the right pet! hahaha!

  20. It would depend...if it was something we could make funny, we might write about it. ...though we wouldn't eat it (GASP!) Then we'd donate it.

  21. That's happened to us before. Mom ordered some cat stuff and received a free Lickety Stick for Dogs with it. She is going to give it to a friend with a woofie. We are certain the shelter is going to like all the goodies you are donating. XO, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

  22. I would give it to my neighbor. If it came unsolicited I would not feel compelled to review it

  23. Well, you don't look like a dog to me, but we don't exactly know all the breeds either. he he Good thing you found a home for all that food.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hmmmm…. nice gesture, but way off the mark! MOL! Maybe you could do a giveaway for any of your woofie followers or something?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hmmm! I suppose you could be a dog in a cunning disguise!! Cunning AND stunning? I'm running!! ;)

  26. We'd probably do what you just did, CK. Blog about it...and donate it.

Maybe Merrick will see this and send you some cat stuff.

  27. GASP! How dare they! Mikko and Jax wouldn't even go near dog food if they were given the choice. Besides, none of them have hip and/or joint problems, so they wouldn't even need the treats.
We would have absolutely done what you did, blog and donate!
    Have a wonderful Wednesday!

  28. We'd do what you did, CK. Blog about their stoopid mistake, and then donate it to some woofoes we know.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Ha, we'd bring it over to the dogs at the shelter stat. We got the cute Merrick package last year for cats.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yikes! That's quite a cross species mix up! Though the woofies around here wouldn't be too picky if they received kitty treats BOL! Terra made it her mission to clean out the kitty's food in her bowl at our old house.

  31. We have a very cool group here that keeps a room in their thrift store (a non profit)so people can bring in anything stuff they can't use and shelter volunteers come by and take what they need.
I used to give the unsolicited dog gifts to our dog friends (yes we have some!)and ask them to give me their opinion. That never happens. Love your early cat photos!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yep, you are no woofie that's for sure! Glad you could donate all those goods to others...we would give the dog stuff to the woofie next door to try if it came to us.

  33. Ok, okay my sweet darling! I will get to work on the CK Boulevard asap. It's gonna be tough, I gotta tell you--you don't have another name do you, MOL???

Love you & sorry the Human hasn't been very cooperative with me for a couple days--she's been out playing during this last ten days of summer break. Sob. Miss you XOXOXO
