Hola kitties! How was your week? Did you celebrate Cinco de Mayo? We had Mexican takeout last week and I'll celebrate at the #Chilipawty this weekend. More on that later. Tomorrow is World Ovarian Cancer Day so I figured I'd do a little remembrance of Aunt Pauline who died from this horrid disease last year.
Aunt Pauline loved all animals but especially cats. She worked in the same office as TW and they became fast friends even though they really didn't share many innerests other than cats. Aunt P loved bling, cashmere and the opera; TW was a hippie. TW hung at Aunt P's Brookyn home several times a year. What sticks in TW's mind is that in the 1970's, Aunt P always carried a baggy of cat kibble which she fed to the stray cats on her way to the subway both mornings and evenings. Her dad kept a very well-fed colony in their back yard. I'll bet he had them fixed too! Once she moved into her own condo, people would drop stray cats at her door and at one time, she called six of them her own. Oh yeah, and most importantly she gave me the nickname STUNNING KEISHA!! Aunt Pauline didn't really deserve to die of Ovarian Cancer.
Friendly Fill-Ins
Now it's time to join the Friendly Fill-Ins, a weekly feature held at this time, which is already in progress. Our hosts—15andmeowing and Four Legged Furballs—need no innerductions as they are giants in the cat blogging world. They think up the fill-ins and I fill in the answers. My answers are underlined and in italics. This week my image relates to fill-in number one.1. My day is not complete until I taste human flesh. I also need my midnight snack although I've been sleeping through treat time.
2. It is time to GET YOUR PAWTY ON. Tomorrow starts the annual #Chilipawty on Twitter. I'm spinning tunes from 9 pm to 10 pm and it's all for a great cause. The money you throw into the tip jar goes to One By One Cat Rescue. There are some pawsome prizes this year including FOUR quilts by Dana Pixie.
3. Pop made me change my mind about salmon loaf. I like salmon cat food but I would never touch people salmon until recently. I was on the table while Pop was mixing it together. He gave me a few samples. I was hooked. He now has to call TW to try to remove me from the table while he prepares it. I wanted more after it was cooked too.
4. I simply refuse to fully domesticate. I like being partially feral. Heh. I get more respect at the v-e-t.
Caturday Art
TW has some "magic" cookies in the condo. I wondered what kind of painting I could do if I had "magic" kibble. I took an Inner Journey but I didn't eat no cookies. I did eat some kibble though. Come along if you care.
Caturday Art is hosted by the lovely Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty and her mum to showcase the latest art by anipal artists using the many different digital apps, Photoshop or original art.
Cancer sucks! It has taken too many far too soon. Cool artwork tiday.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, it sure sounds like your Aunt Pauline was one wonderful person. We are so sorry this horrible disease took her. Hmm, your #1 answer makes us think you're a zombie cat (sorry dear, that was all dad). Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteCK, THAT ART IS AMAZING.. VERY Psychedelic! We like! All cancers suck! Our dad’s sister died of ovarian cancer when she was only 50. And that comedic genius, Gilda Radner, had to lose her life to it at such a young age was lousy. We remember you often “talking” about Aunt Pauline here. Sending lots of purrs, prayers and POTP as you remember her today. Sending the same to TW as she deals with her own cancer. Don’t nibble on too much human flesh today. ReplyDeleteThat was a wonderful tribute to Aunt Pauline. Those were good answers too CK and your art is Stunning Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry about the loss of your friend Aunt Pauline; that was a nice tribute to her. Just beautiful art, and good answers! Our Franklin kitty can really relate to number 4 as he retains a lot of his feral ways too.
ReplyDeleteCW you got to looking very colorful on your 'magic carpet' ride ... we are keeping paws together every day for your TW and will say a special prayer for the lovely lady who gave you your name and blessed a world of kitties with love and kindness ... enjoy life, and as they say, eat dessert first.
ReplyDeleteSending hugs as you remember your Aunt Pauline. My cats are jealous that you got some salmon loaf! Back before we were vegetarians, I loved a good salmon loaf.
ReplyDeleteThat's a super nice tribute to Aunt Pauline.
ReplyDeleteWe've never had salmon loaf but it sounds yummy. We love your artwork. Thanks for the puzzle too.
The Florida Furkids
Lovely art, CK. Can you believe my human had Thai food on Cinco de Mayo because her friends couldn't find a Mexican restaurant that was even available for takeout! She told them they should have ordered a day ahead of time - L.A., you know! Purrs to TW as she remembers Aunt Pauline (as I'm sure she does all the time).
ReplyDeleteAunt Pauline was a terrific lady. I’m sorry she left this world too soon. I’ll try to check out the Pawty this weekend. Sounds like fun. ~Ernie
ReplyDeleteLovely tribute to Aunt Pauline.
ReplyDeleteYou should probably leave the magic cookies for TW.
That is a sweet memory of your Aunt Pauline always having a bag of cat food with her. I didn't realize how long TW was friends with her. I am sorry she had such an awful disease that took her life. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers- #1 was funny. :) And I will be sure to stop be the #chillipawty. We did celebrate Cinco de Mayo- I made nachos and tacos. Your art is beautiful. Thank you for the puzzle. XO
ReplyDeleteGorgeous art! Purrs to you as you remember Aunt Pauline today. She sounds like a wonderful lady. It's so unfair how such horrible things happen to such good people.
ReplyDeleteAunt Pauline was a wonderful woman and she deserves to be living still and enjoying life with the kitties she so loved. We have not got a choice when it comes to our health.....wish we did.
ReplyDeleteYour fill-ins were right on. Mom never makes things like salmon loaf but I bet it would be right up my alley.
Shoko
Auntie Pauline was the best! I am so glad she made you STUNNING and that is #1 in my book. We were sad she passed. THe big C has taken to many that we love. We also lopve your fill-ins. Mom has not made salmon loaf, she has made meat loaf, chicken load and my purrsonal favorite HAM loaf...I think I should ask her to make salmon loaf. CK, your art is fabulishious (again) this week. I can't wait to do the puzzle. We are sending you loads of kitty kisses!
ReplyDeleteYour Aunt Pauline sounded like a wonderful lady. It is two years this month since my friend from primary school and who I knew from the age of 5 was taken by the evil C.
ReplyDeleteYour art is beautiful. I love the bright colours.
Your Aunt Pauline sounds like she was an amazing lady x
ReplyDeleteThe art is wonderful and love your #4 answer!
Aunt Pauline was such a wonderful person, and we loved hearing all about how she and TW met and became such lifelong friends. Your artwork rocks, CK. It looks magic cookie-inspired!
ReplyDeleteHuman flesh? Heh heh heh. You sound Truly Fearsome, CK!
ReplyDeleteYou art is so beautiful and vibrant.
Sending you (((hugs))) as you remember Aunt Pauline. She sounds like someone I would have loved as well. It's heartbreaking that she is gone. I had an "office Mom" for many years (she passed away a number of years ago). She was OBSESSED with cats, she always had cats......she became my "Office Mom" because we were so close and both loved cats. Her name was Mary. I used to call her "Mom" or "Kitty Butt" lol!!!!!!
