My Near-Death Experience

Hola kitties! I had a near-death experience on the last day of 2018. Lemme try to describe it for you. I'm using file fotos to illustrate since TW didn't think to grab the flashy box while this drama was unfolding and I know you'd rather see fotos than read words.

My Near-Death Experience

TW and I had just gone to bed about 3:15 a.m. When she finally turned off the big orange rock, I started to wash. Suddenly, I didn't feel too good. Had I swallowed too much fur? My throat felt swollen. I uttered some funny-sounding noises and started to cough. I could feel TW panicking so I jumped off the bed.

My Near-Death Experience

Like all good cat staff, TW knows the signs of when I am prolly gonna get an asthma attack and tries to be proactive. At those times, I usually sleep with my neck stuck out or make cute snoring noises. This night, I had been quietly curled up in a ball before I washed.

My Near-Death Experience

She turned on all the lights and followed me into the other room. I was in the hall sounding like I was trying to barf. If anything came out, I would swallow it which she knows isn't good for a cat. I moved into the living room and started coughing again. Then I saw it! A tunnel with a bright, bright light at the end. If I squinted, I could see rainbows and was that Buzz Lucas?? I started to walk toward the tunnel, the light and my Buzzy.

My Near-Death Experience

I wouldn't let TW near me with the inhaler thingy. I went behind the tree and coughed and gagged some more, then she saw me emerge in front of the couch. In actuality I was starting to walk into the tunnel towards the light and my Buzzy. I was shaking, wheezing and gurgling. I heard TW's voice in the distance calling for Pop, who was sleeping.

My Near-Death Experience
I saw Pop come in like a dream as I took another step toward Buzz who held his paw out to me. He was calling me his girl or was that Pop talking to me? Pop picked me up and in a moment, I was out of the tunnel which had vanished. Apparently by picking me up, Pop dislodged anything caught in my throat. I looked around and saw both TW and Pop looking worried and scared. A few moments later, TW was offering me food but I didn't feel like eating.

OK, I didn't feel like eating the slop with meds that she was offering. I felt like eating some kibble and so I did. Pop went off to bed. It didn't take me long to forget the tunnel and the light. I jumped on my pink perch and then into the Ivory Tower of Power condo. I wanted to play. The only tunnel I knew was the one in the hall that I always play in.

Pop saved my life. Someday I'll see Buzz again but 3:30 a.m. on December 31st wasn't the time.
