Feral Friday: O Plastic Tree

Hola kitties! Are you all ready for the human in the red suit who brings you prezzies? We got our tree up but it's not Fraser or Balsam. It's an imposter! The peeps say it's better for my allergies since we had to kick Balsam out the day after Christmas last year cos of allergies, not to mention he was a deadbeat. I'm gonna give you the 411 about what I know of this imposter.

Feral Friday: O Plastic Tree

Some of these "baubles" Imposter is carrying have significance or funny stories attached to them. You can learn a lot about a tree by the ornaments they carry.

Feral Friday: O Plastic Tree

Imposter has a patriotic streak. This is one of our ornaments honoring the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center and NYC. TW bought this in Macys.

Feral Friday: O Plastic Tree

He's nostalgic too which is a good quality. This Santa is about two hunnert years old! He's older than TW and that's old! His suit is worn and his belt is broken but he's still alive and is the first ornament on the tree every year. Dunno how he feels about the fake tree. TW once found his twin at a consignment shop down in NC but they wanted $75 for him. I thought consignment was another word for cheap or used too.

Feral Friday: O Plastic Tree

The imposter is carrying stolen merchandise! A friend of the peeps "liberated" this ornament from the tree in Jersey City city hall many decades ago. MOL! It goes on the tree every year.

Feral Friday: O Plastic Tree

I now know that Imposter is well read. He's carrying a lot of books. This is just one of them. They come from China so reading them is a laugh a minute. "Chris Krinkle" is one of their greatest hits.

Feral Friday: O Plastic Tree

He's also a peacenik cos instead of an angel on top, he's got some peace doves. Unique, for sure.

After putting the final touches on this post, we received some new precious ornament. I'll try to share them on FB. One is the new Fancy Feast ornament which actually arrived before Christmas this year.

Friendly fill-ins.

Let's answer some Friendly Fill-Ins, a weekly feature held at this time, which is already in progress. Our hosts—15andmeowing and Four Legged Furballs—need no innerductions as they are giants in the cat blogging world. They think up the fill-ins and I fill in the answers. I axed TW to answer the first three cos they don't apply to me. Our answers are boldface. This week my image relates to number three and number two on the BONUS fill-ins.

Feral Friday: O Plastic Tree

1. This time of year, MSK puts me TW in a Grinch like mood. They always schedule her for treatment on Christmas Eve or plan so many appointments Christmas week, she has no time to do anything like shop, wrap, write cards, etc., not to mention traffic is a nightmare. Her Christmas spirit has done a vanishing act. This year has been the worst. Don't ask.

2. My TW's favorite kind of Christmas cookie is rainbow marzipan. Pfeffernusse are a close second. The absolute best are any home baked cookies and the kinfolks' cookies are pawsome. Unfortunately since the Croney virus, they haven't had holidays at the kinfolk.

3. Wrapping is my TW's least favorite thing on my her holiday to-do list. She's the first to admit, she's terrible at it. The kitteh's who received the Secret Paws will agree with this. She wraps like she doesn't have opposable thumbs.

4. Others might be surprised to know that I DJ for Christmas. Actually Catmas Eve but I look forward to it. This year I have three or four new songs on my set list.

Bonus fill-ins from last week

Since I didn't post last week but I did the fill-ins, I figure I'll let you see them.

1. I have a tough time choosing a gift for Pop. He never needs nothing.

2. I can't wait to see some lucky kitty or kitties open the Secret Paws package from me. Can't tell you who it's going to. Everything is bought but nothing is wrapped.

3. I'm dreaming of a Stunning Russian Blue Christmas. Starring ME, of course.

4. If my holiday season were a book or movie, it would be titled A Charlie Brown Christmas. It certainly will be a different Christmas. We have a Charlie Brown tree and not many prezzies, except for mine. We haven't heard anything about the annual Santa Parade the peeps never miss.

Caturday art

We have some real Christmas art to show you. If you're on FB, you've seen me share some posts about Rev. Howard Finster. Turns out one of the pieces we have by him is a Christmas decoration. His specialty was painting angels so TW bought one of his angels decades ago while it was still affordable.

Feral Friday: O Plastic Tree

The sign the angel is holding says "Angels love you / we do to / Happy Christmas." Rev. Finster never had much formal schooling which explains his spelling and grammar errors or perhaps his dog told him how to spell. HAH! We're not an overly religious family but TW loves his work and visited his Paradise Garden in Summerville, GA a few times.

Feral Friday: O Plastic Tree

I took the liberty of doing my own art of this art. MOL!

As a Christmas gift, here's a surprise puzzle!

Caturday Art is hosted by the lovely Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty and her mum to showcase how talented us anipal artists are. We can use the many different digital apps, Photoshop or share original art.

  2. Old time ornaments are so nice, mine Mommy had many but she left them all behind when she had to move to this little apartment, but she says she can see them "in her head". I think that's weird, I think they should be on a tree, but we don't have one. I'd settle for a plastic one over nothing, but she says there is no space for a tree, bah humbug. I wish TW didn't have to go to doctors at Christmastime, that's sort of Scrooge-ish in my opinion, one should only do nice happy stuff that week, so I am feeling sadz for her. But if it helps her get better, or stay better, then it is a good thing. One of my Christmas Wishes is for her to stay well, every day please. Oh, and I did not get a Fancy Feast Ornament, can you believe that! No ornament for no tree, a double wham! Your special art today is very special by the way, good job! Your friend, June (and mine Mommy too who is off somewhere having her morning sneeze-o-rama)

  3. Hi CK our Mom can't wrap either. Monday is our youngest boys birthday, he has to work Monday so Mom said she would take him out to eat yesterday on his day off. Unfortunately he didn't feel like it so he sent Mom for takeout. Mom said traffic was a nightmare and enough to kill any Christmas Spirit she might have. Not to mention the stores have already gotten rid of all their Christmas stuff.

  4. It's wonderful to have such a unique work of art that you treasure. You have paid it great tribute by inserting yourself into your Caturday Art along with it. Needless to say, you made it even more stunning. Merry Christmas!

  5. Really enjoyed the tour of the Imposter Christmas tree, CK, as well as the fill ins and Caturday Art! That's so cool 😎 that TW got to visit Howard Finster's place. We've got a piece by him somewhere that we got at the annual arts festival. Going to his place was on our list of things to do along with several other "outsider" artist's spaces in GA and AL, but I became sick with a limiting illness 30 years ago. Somewhere I have a picture of one of my Mom's cats next to a tree with artwork by Brian Dowdle on it. Will try to find and post it on fb next week sometime.

  6. Our peeps went artificial this year==live are expensive and skinny. This one hits the ceiling, can't fit the topper, might steal your idea for doves--
Love to TW and Pops, hope you get a lot of cool stuff

  9. We enjoyed reading the stories behind your ornaments! Our FF ornament came today...the earliest I remember it coming in years!

  10. I love your flag 9/11 memorial ornament. Old ornaments are the best, we had an old santa like that too. TW probably got stuck with appointments the week before Christmas because no one else wants them. Sending good thoughts to everyone in the townhouse.

  11. All your ornaments are beautiful. And that angel is very unique. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers except for all the trouble with your appointments. I don't like wrapping either. Beautiful art. Thank you for the puzzle. XO

  12. That imposter is looking good, CK. You sure do have some great and very meaningful ornaments, and we love that artwork incorporating the work by Rev. Finster.

We are sad that TW is having such issues with the scheduling by MSK. We could understand how that would zap holiday cheer, big time.

    XO

  13. Those are all interesting ornaments on you imposter tree. Thanks for telling the story behind them. The two oldest ornaments I had were robins. They were made of felt or something similar and had real feathers on them. One day I saw one robin had lost it's feathers. When I was taking the tree down I found them amongst the branches. It could only have been Flynn. Eric would have pulled the whole tree down.

  16. I like wrapping presents, but I have less to wrap each year! So much online shopping and shipping directly to the person. We hope you, your pop and TW have a wonderful Christmas!

  17. Love your ornaments! I always have an imposter tree, allergies too. Mine, not the kitties.

  18. We got the 2022 Fancy Feast ornament too. Mom was pleasantly surprised that it looked much better in real life than it did on their website.
