Hola kitties! I'm here to talk about International Cat Day which falls on August 8 cos I'm a CAT and
thanks to
Ann, I'm the CB spokescat for this day. We all know that every single day is Cat
Day so why is August 8 special?
According to Days of the Year, the original festivities for International Cat Day were put together for the first time in 2002 by IFAW, the International Fund for Animal Welfare. Along with other animal rights groups who joined in to celebrate, this was declared to be the day to appreciate and honor one of the most popular pets on the planet.
Some of the ways to celebrate are to volunteer at a
cat shelter, make donations to cat charities, wear cat-themed clothing, visit
a cat café, adopt a cat and my favorite spoil your cat rotten by buying her or
him a new bed, toy, cat tree, scratcher or premium gourmet food. You could
also order some special food from your favorite restaurant and share it with
me your cat.
1. The highlight of my summer so far has been sleeping. Yeah, that's what I've spent this summer doing.
2. August is a good time to sleep. TW agrees since all the Christmas in July and Prime sales are finished.
3. Biting often gets me into trouble. I think I would have disappointed my fans if I didn't say that.
4. I see spotted lantern flies every time I look out the window. They have pretty red and black spots but an invasive species and are at least an inch long. Our town is infested with them. They fly up to the 4th floor and sit on the screens. Of course, I don't pretend to go after them. I'm retired. TW will occasionally open the window and shoot them full of a vinegar and dish soap mixture.
Friendly Fill-ins
Now it's time for Friendly Fill-Ins, a weekly feature held at this time, which is already in progress. Our hosts—15andmeowing and Four Legged Furballs—need no innerductions as they are giants in the cat blogging world. They think up the fill-ins and I fill in the answers. My answers are boldface. This week my image relates to numbers one and two.1. The highlight of my summer so far has been sleeping. Yeah, that's what I've spent this summer doing.

Caturday art
Looks like TW got me a new box for International Cat Day and it fits just
fine. So fine, I painted a picture to commemorate it
so I'll always remember how cheap she was.
Caturday Art is hosted by the lovely Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty and her mum to showcase how talented us anipal artists are. We can
use the many different digital apps, Photoshop or share original art.
Gratuitous Foto
What could be more internationally cat-like than "helping" your human make the bed?
I'm sure you'll get treats for this if only to say they don't want your help. I didn't but I got to stay as long as I wanted.
Pop bought new sheets that we once read about from our friend Patty's
blog Book's, Cooks, Looks. Thanks, Patty, he loves the sheets even though the ones you wrote about
aren't available anymore.
Love the photo collage of you for International Cat Day, CK! Also, nice Caturday Art, and good fill in answers!
ReplyDeleteHappy International Cat Day, CK! That last suggestion about ordering some food and sharing some with your cat is simply genius. We love that art of you in your new box, too. XO
ReplyDeleteYou are correct, CK; every day is Cat Day!
ReplyDeleteBetcha that box was fun; Da Boyz are boxaholics.
Thank you for the art and puzzle...a good one!
Love that mix of photos and you are a purrfect spokescat for International Cat Day CK!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on being spokescat for International Cat Day!! You are a purrfect model. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. I would have been disappointed if you didn't have biting for #3. :) I like to sleep too. Very nice art. Thank you for the puzzle.. XO
ReplyDeleteDearest CK, I am appalled and disappointed that my Mom did NOT help me post this week and we missed such an impawtant holiday! AND to make it worse, I did NOT get the opportunity to post you glorious badge! Know that my Mom will be getting a couple of judicious Marv bites! (I promise not to break the skin though). CK your art and photos ar totally fabulishious! That painting of you in a box--lushious! I can't wait to do the puzzle. And your fill-ins are spot on. We had those horrid bugs last summer! YUCK! Oh! I have a new habit, for the last 3 nights I have left a shew in the doorway of Mom's bedroom (she stepped on the first one). I am a tad disappointed that she does not eat them, but tosses them outside. They are extremely tasty. Purrhaps I should send one through the tunnel for you when the tunnel comes back out. Mom has been "busy" painting the living room in anticipation of the new floor...but she is so furry slow! She moans alot about her hip and climbing ladders...Koz says she has taken a week to do what she used to do in 2 days! Whisker Kisses (Your #1 Fan Boy) Marv
ReplyDeleteWe were sure you would mention biting (mol)!
ReplyDeleteWe love your box, it's furry artsy!
And yes - EFFURRY day is surely International Cat Day. They should just call it International Cat Year.
Nokitty could be a better Spokescat!!! Nice artwork and thanks for the puzzle.
ReplyDeleteNever knew they was international cat day. As I get old I learn how much I don't know. I visit your blog back in 2014.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
You are a purrfect spokescat for International Cat Day! That's a nice box, you should thank TW by giving her a bite or two. You should ask for retroactive treats for when you "helped" Pop change the sheets!
ReplyDeleteThere couldn't be a better spokescat than you for International Cat Day. Your art is lovely.
ReplyDeleteHey CK, thanks for being a most wonderful host for International Cat Day, your the purrfect choice! Good answers and such fun art too!
ReplyDeleteYou know, CK…I’m with you. I’ve been doing lots of sleeping this summer too. It’s been so hot, the windows aren’t open because the cold air blowing thing is on so there’s not much to do but sleep. ~Ernie
ReplyDeleteYou're the best for being a spokes-kitty, CK! Us pups are snoozing the hottdays too. Then we do zoomies in the evening...inside the house! Just like the kitties here, used to do.
ReplyDeleteGreat job being hostess for International Cat Day! Like everyone else of course I think EVERY day is Cat Day......especially since I'm a cat!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Teddy
You're a star. What an honor.
ReplyDeleteLove your fill-ins too.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. My best to your mom. ♥
There's never a bad time to sleep! Your art is adorable. Mudpie's Gotcha Day is tomorrow but she wishes it was today to coincide with International Cat Day.
