Feral Friday Wrapping Up Turkey Week

Hola kittehs! Last week I promised to report on our pre-cooked Thanksgiving meal. Unfortunately, there's not many snafus to report about. As you can tell from this image, the turkey was edible. In fact, it was rather tasty. The peeps didn't like the sides too much though. I could care less about sides. There were a few funny moments though not as many as I'd like or have expected.

Cleanup in aisle 2!! The oven door took the hit. There was the time uncooked pumpkin pie spilled all over it. TW usually fills the crusts halfway, puts them on the oven shelf and then fills them the rest of the way. Not this year. Their pies overfloweth. Heh heh.

Feral Friday Wrapping Up Turkey Day

Did you hear the one about turkey juice all over that same oven door? The oven rack tipped, ergo the turkey pan fell. No turkey was injured or fell to the floor. Our oven door got washed twice within 24 hours. A new world's record!

Friendly Fill-ins

Now it's time for Friendly Fill-Ins, a weekly feature held at this time, which is already in progress. Our hosts—15andmeowing and Four Legged Furballs—need no innerductions as they are giants in the cat blogging world. They think up the fill-ins and I fill in the answers. My answers are boldface. This week my image relates to fill-in number four.

Feral Friday Wrapping Up Turkey Day

1. My favorite holiday film is nothing on Hallmark. We all watched "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" the other night but that's more a cartoon. TW likes "Miracle on 34th Street" since she liked Macys.

2. My favorite Christmas song is everything on my holiday youtube playlist. Bast willing, I'll be spinning those tunes on Twitter on Christmas Eve like I have since 2009.

3. If you ask me, 'tis the season for screwing the cat by putting a tree up in front of her cat trees. In the early days, they moved the cat trees aside where I couldn't even access them. [Ed note: she never really uses those trees anymore.] I used them a lot in those early days.

4. Getting my first Tunnel of Pain for Christmas is a holiday memory I'll never forget. TW bought it from Nip & Bones (remember them?) and Pop said I'd never use it. As soon as they opened it, I ran through it over and over.

Caturday Art

I did something I thought was inneresting. A few years ago, I made a pencil sketch but never found the opportunity to publish it until now.

Feral Friday Wrapping Up Turkey Day

This week I decided to colorize it so I got out my paints and went to work. I think I improved on it. I made this one into a puzzle.

  1. Never a dull moment at your place! I'm not a big fan of Hallmark movies either. They're all the same.

  4. I'm glad you got to have some turkey. The Thanksgiving meal is my favorite thing to eat. My favorite holiday cartoon is the original How the Grinch Stole Christmas. It's a Wonderful Life is my favorite live action movie. Sappy, but a guilty pleasure. Have a good weekend!

  5. Most of the Christmas movies are fine in our opinion...but A Christmas Story gets rather overdone...like an overcooked dinner...
Your dinner for Thanksgiving sounded and looked pretty yummy!

Petcretary did drop the turkey on the floor once...well, the whole leg that is...LOL! They washed it and someone did eat of it...no one got sick:)
And she knows all about the overflowing pie thing, too! Must be a universal issue at this holiday.
We wonder what disasters will happen at Christmas?? Like the time she made a roast beef, and when she started slicing it, it about started to squirm! So she sliced it thicker and fried it to death. LOL!

At least the tree goes up in the living room, here, where are not allowed most of the time anyways, so no problemo there for us! tee-hee!

  8. Kitchen chaos we are used to. Thankfully we dont do celebratory events or feasting here, so most birds of any size are all safe, MOL Hopefully you scored some of the turkey and trimmings?

  13. We had pre-cooked turkey too and it was very good. The sides were yummy too - broccoli and green beans that weren't overcooked. And the mashed potatoes were surprisingly good texture. Lots easier than cooking, cleaning, and storing all that food.

  14. Hey CK! We did your Puzzle! It was fun...but Mom kept getting distracted...she got the Christmas tree out of the basement and started to straighten its wire branches...when she does stuff like that she puts on old Rock Videos! Back in the 70's and 80s Mom worked in a rock and roll bar...they had live bands and DJs at night and during the day they watched rock videos on MTV. Well it was a parade down memory lane (the videos are STILL playing) Mom kept getting sucked into watching them and (gasp!) she was dancing!!! Good thing Alex is playing PS4 games! THe puzzle took longer than it should have!
We gotta tell you we LOVED your fill-ins and the shots of you get turkey made us hungry. Purrhaps we can get mom to give us some smiked salmon cream cheese...We LOVE your Art today and we hope you and TW and Pops have a TERRIFIC Week and TWs back feels better! Head Bonks Your Marv

  15. Cool art, CK! My human and her boyfriend went to a friend's house for Thanksgiving and she brought the stuffing. As is typical of her, she picked out a stuffing recipe that had booze as one of the ingredients.

  16. The main thing, CK, is that you got plenty of turkey.
We like the way your selfie sketch coloured up so nicely.

  19. I believe it was a well known Alice who muttered something about "being late". And at this point, I barely remember Thanksgiving, though there may have been some gobbling that day and several thereafter. And unfortunately, tho this season is totally my hugest favorite for decorating and gifting and colors and lights, cannot comment favorably on movies and music as after fifty-plus years am way tired and bored by nearly all of them (call me Scrooge). But happy they make you happy. So enjoy. Be happy. Sing along.
Dance. Make your heart feel good. It's Christmas time ...
