DONA NOBIS PACEM 2020

Hola kitty brothers and sisters! We are again participating in the annual BlogBlast 4 Peace. This is the 14th year for one of my favorite blogging events. I've been doing my part since 2011. Mimi Lenox, the founder, wanted to know what would happen if the entire blogosphere posted about world peace on the same day using the same title—Dona Nobis Pacem. It hasn't changed the world—yet—but it's provided some creative and wonderful images of peace. Our 2020 theme for Blog4Peace is Peace in the Time of Quarantine. Our peace movement continues even when humanity is upside down. It is now when peace should take center stage and all signs are looking in the opposite direction.

DONA NOBIS PACEM 2020

Make no mistake. We have been fighting a war against an invisible enemy since January. The only weapons at our disposal are masks, gloves and hand sanitizer. We are our brother's keeper. It's up to us to fight against this enemy not with violence but by wearing the masks, washing our hands, social distancing and not gathering with large crowds. Why does this seem so difficult?

During WWII, supplies such as gasoline, butter, canned milk, sugar and more were rationed so they could be provided for the war effort. People collected metal for the troops. It was considered a common good for the war effort, and it affected every American household. There were no riots or protests and humans were happy to do their part.

During the great Depression, neighbors and family members were supportive of each other, donating meals and money whenever possible. Again, people supported, taught, and learned from each other.

DONA NOBIS PACEM 2020

Strength in adversity is sorely missing in 2020 when humans refuse to wear masks and adhere to social distancing guidelines. It seems the entire world is selfish, refusing to do their part to save lives. They want to live their lives and get their party on. Grandma gets sick? Doesn't affect them. Uncle Eddie dies? Party on. Party at the warehouse with 500 unmasked guests? Let's go!

It's more important than ever to practice inner peace and patience in these stressful times. Remember mask wearing is not political, it's an IQ test. We cats don't need masks cos we're not super-spreaders. What's your IQ?

Show your support for the front-line medical workers. Do your part and make their jobs easier by protecting our brothers and sisters using the few simple weapons at our disposal.

I'd like to end by sharing a story of a doctor who is not only living in a country torn apart by physical war, he's also fighting a battle to keep his friends and family safe from the invisible war. Over 1000 cats are counting on him.

Better safe than sorry. Mask on! Peace out.

  1. I agree, we need peace and co-operation now more than ever. What is so hard about putting a mask on? In latter years people have grown up getting what they want and it has led to a me me me generation. And what is it with stock piling? We go into a second lock down at midnight tonight and shops are allowed to stay open for essentials as before. Already by Monday shelves were being cleared again. So many people nowadays are selfish. Thank goodness there are still those always willing to help.

  6. We totally agree with you CK. The world is full of those too preoccupied with "ME" to think of others. A mask is a sign of respect to others. But then again those people dont even respect themselves. A pox on them. Oh wait, there is!

  7. You look adorable CK, and I so agree about masking, social distancing, and other sensible precautions! And like you I'm astonished that so many have not responded in the way that we did during World War II.
We purr for peace here, always.
