All In the Family

Hola kitties! Isn't that a fun post title? If you think I'm gonna write about my fur family from da hood, I'm sorry cos you be wrong. Since this is Music Monday, if you think I'm going to share the music of artists who are related, you be wrong again.

All In the Family

Every year my peeps find out they have more family. Several years back TW learned her uncle's brother's daughter, Amanda, was a musician in Seattle, WA. I've shared a few songs by the Orphan Trains. They're now named the Winterlings and they've put out some cool alternative folk music. I'm dedicating my free music choice week to their music. Even if you're not a fan of folksy-type music, you should give them a listen.

The Winterlings have played the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. for the Restore Civility Peace Rally, CMJ Music festival in Manhattan, The Juan De Fuca Festival in Port Angeles, Fremont Abbey, SEATAC International Airport, and Seattle’s iconic EMP (Experience Music Project) Museum for the 20th Anniversary of the release of Nirvana’s In Utero album.

The "Long May You Live" video features one very robust orange kitty.

Their new single is titled "I'm like a Tree" and it's probably TW's favorite song by them. Unfortunately, it's not yet on YouTube but you can listen to it in its entirety and sample some of their other tunes for free on their website.

If you like what you've heard and you want to hear more, you can listen to their complete live session on KAOS, Seattle from earlier this year.

I'm participating in the #4M Music Moves Me blog hop co-hosted by Curious as a Cathy and a chorus of others. Until next time, keep rockin'.

  7. CK,

I do like folk mewsic and very much appreciated the introduction to cousin's band. 'The Ghost of Leonard Cohen' is spooky at the opening which is purrfect match with his vocal style. I will check out more of their stuff on YT or the site that you listed. Thanks for joining the 4M crew on the dance floor. Have a boogietastic week, my furriends!

  12. Guess what? I grew up in Port Angeles and have been to the Juan De Fuca Festival of the Arts, even performed there once (dance). Maybe I've seen the Winterlings without even knowing it! What a small world.

  13. Great music ... though we think CK is the biggest rock star. Of course, we're biased and we're not sorry.
