No Shelter From the Storm

No Shelter From the Storm

Last Wednesday we had terrible thunderstorms. TW and Pop deserted me and left me to fend for myself. Pop goes to work everyday but I always have TW around. She goes out and does chores but she's never out more than an hour or two and she never goes out during a storm. Not only did she leave, but when she left it was thundering. She left me all alone during the thunderstorm and it was a bad one. I thought the world was going to end but I didn't think she would ever return. Pray tell, what could be so important that she had to leave me while it was storming?

So it turned out she went to the baseball game. She was excited cos they got great field level seats near some Judge guy in right field for half price. The joke was on her for several reasons. One, it rained and the game was delayed. Two, her team stunk up da Bronx when they did play. Three, Pop left his seats to get out of the rain and they would never see each other again. OK, slight exaggeration there.

No Shelter From the Storm
Pop came home soaked at his regular time—without TW. When she couldn't find him, she decided to stay dry at the stadium until the bad thunderstorm was over cos she's more scared than I am. It wasn't until after 6 pm that she dragged herself in the door after being out since noon.

It turned out they both went to look for each other in the same places. When TW finally got out of the rain, she saw Pop waving to her so she walked toward him. When she got through the crowd, he was gone. He went looking for her. Every time she thought she saw him, he would do a disappearing act so she went back inside to their section where she stopped to talk to a woman who was sitting in her row. Then she sat on the floor to wait it out.

Good thing she knows the way home. The only thing she was upset about was she knew she had to add money to her Metrocard and figured Pop would swipe her through to save her having to wait at one of the long lines. Heh heh. She had to wait behind a bunch of people who'd obviously never used a Metrocard machine before.

There were lots of things The Cat was upset about like getting my dinner very late and being left alone during those storms. I'll bet she didn't even care. I'll bet she only cared that her team lost. Woe is the pussycat.

  7. Woe IS a pussy cat, indeed. CK, I bet if your humans would've taken you with then the thunderstorms would've stopped & your momma's team would've won. Maybe next time they'll think twice about leaving you home on a stormy night to go to a game! Luvs. -Valentine (& Mom) of Noir Kitty Mews

  8. Oh, so sorry to hear your tale of woe, CK! My mum would hate to leave me alone in a storm. She wouldn't do it unless she really had to.

  10. At least you stayed dry, C.K. Don't your humans have cell phones. When Mom and Dad get lost from each other (and it's happened more than a few times), they call each other. One stays put and the other finds them. At least neither of them panicked. Sorry your Mom's team lost! 20. I had to laugh at your Mom being stuck behind people who never used the Metrocard machine before. It always seems that when you want to get something done, someone with the intelligence of a daffodil is in your way.
I'm so sorry you had to brave the thunderstorm alone. It was inconsiderate of your mom to leave you alone.
