Why Are They Photographing Our Ceilings?

Why Are They Photographing Our Ceilings?
Let's start with the cleaning, Woman! You've wasted enough time.

This is gonna be a short post since today we will have introoders in the condo taking photos of our ceiling tomorrow. (Actually today since you're reading this on Wednesday.) Seriously! I wonder if the ceiling will get treats for posing. They best not be photographing me without a pocket full of treats. Anyhoo, TW has to reduce some of our clutter so we don't look like hoarders. Why are they taking pics of the ceiling and not The Cat? I'll tell you.

Within the next few weeks, work will begin over our heads. Our roof is being gutted and replaced. Some say it's a disaster and a replacement is far overdue—or is that something else that's currently being gutted and replaced? I say, if it doesn't leak, leave it alone. Right now, we're lucky and the only leak we've ever had in 14 years has come in through the window frame. TW is sure that's about to change bigly.

All they've done is "kick the tires" up there and people have been reporting leaks. That's not good. The first building in our community had so many leaks, they had to stop work. The Cat doesn't like water.

One wrong move and I blow them away!
There's the noise factor although the noise next door hasn't bothered me. Still, when they hoisted the crane on the roof, the entire building shook. TW remembers when they were installing the last roof, they'd throw down the roofing and at times she was afraid it would come right through the roof into our unit. She and Nicky were frightened. Let's hope this will be quieter.

TW is also worried about toxic odors and fumes from the chemicals they'll be using to strip away the six layers of old roofing and waterproof the new roof leeching into our unit. As you know both TW and I have asthma and strong odors are triggers. We will be axing about that tomorrow to see if we have to buy or rent an air cleaner to get rid of any toxins. Truthfully (she says) she's more worried about me than herself since my lungs are smaller and my sense of smell is keener. Of course, we can ax but there's no guarantee the answer will be truthful.

I guess we'll know soon enough about noise, toxic fumes and leaks. Wish us luck that we have none of them. Oh, and sorry this wasn't as short as I thought it would be.

  11. We had a storm come through our neighborhood a few years ago and it seemed they replaced roofs for months. It is SOOOOO noisy! You have our sympathies. ♥

  12. Oh no - this sounds like not only a major project but major headache for you as well. Let's hope the noise isn't HORRID and the smells aren't unbearable. Maybe taking a nice vacation to sunny climes would be good???? I bet you wish you COULD do that. Let's just hope it doesn't take like WEEEEEEEKS for it to be done and over with.

  13. Hope everything is ok up there, and that they gave you treats for invading your home with cameras! (and if they didn't, then TW needs to pick up the slack!)

  14. A good thing to get over with. When this house got a new roof two years ago, the noise of banging and clattering about was horrible. It went on all day too. We don't know why we got a new roof, the other one didn't leak.

  16. Home improvement projects of any kind are a pain in the rump, are they not? You may want to remove the precious Keisha from the home during the dirty, loud roof work! Good luck.

  20. I hope that they are able to finish the roofing job really fast for you. Those types of things are never fun. They should give you treats even if they don't take photos of you. Treats tend to help overcome just about any problem.

  21. Oh, man. I'll be keeping you in my thoughts. I know roofing projects can be horribly loud, but I didn't think about the fume factor. That has to be hard for everyone.

  24. Dang, CK. We sure hope it all goes okay, with little asthma triggers for you and TW. :(

  25. We wish you well. When we added the porch on the roofers were very considerate and things went well, and they had to build the roof from scratch and tie it into our original one. We have our paws crossed that you can say the same.

  26. Hoping everything goes well and gets back to "normal" quickly!

  27. Hopefully the noise, falling debris, and fumes won't be too annoying.
