Artsy Fartsy Caturday With a Message

Good day! I was going to do something in Photoshop this week but decided to milk the PiCATso theme another week. My PiCATsos are still the most popular paintings in the gallery. In these uncertain times, I've decided to create a work based on his Guernica. Yes, that's a big undertaking but this cat is up to the task.

Since TW, who's no student of art, has heard of Guernica, I presume everyone else has. If not, you can click the link to see it. It's one of Picasso's most famous works and shows the tragedies of war and the suffering it inflicts upon innocent civilians. It's a powerful anti-war piece. I have made my own anti-war statement by creating a work in it's image in PiCATso style. I call it GuerniCAT.

GuerniCAT also shows me war as dark and foreboding. I'm about to pounce on some unsuspecting prey. Just like you wouldn't want to mess with me as I appear here, you don't your country fighting in no war. This peace-loving cat can turn nasty at a moment's notice. Ax Pop about yesterday morning.

As pathetic as this sounds, the only reason TW even knows this important work of art exists is because one of her musical icons used to refer to it. Yes, all her art knowledge comes from the fact that most of the music she loves the is made by musicians with artistic leanings.

This week's photo challenges.

Artsy Fartsy Caturday With a Message

Black and white was the theme for this week's Pet Photography Challenge. Even though we made a copy of this image with green eyes, we thought it would be cheating to use it. We already cheated by using an older pic although TW's #senile mind forgot she had to take a new pic. It's all the same since our camera doesn't have a black and white option so we would have had to use Photoshop anyhoo.

3 Lil Owls Photography Project's theme was Movement. Again, TW cheated by using an older pic. We have so many shots with my paw a blur. We used a Hefe PS action on it.

I hope your weekend is sunny and bright as opposed to the darkness of my art.

  1. My human learned about Guernica when she was quite young... and it still resonates with her today. Perhaps even more so than ever before.

  5. Your art is wonderful! My mum told me about Guernica. She said there was a print in her classroom at school and it used to fascinate her, and every time she looked at it she could see something more in it.

  12. One of the Spanish classrooms at the Human's school has a big copy of Guernica--we are glad TW did not fragment you too much--I would not have wanted to see your tailio coming out of your ear or sumfing. As it is, it is a nice homage without being too disturbing--you do look a bit dark and glowering though. Maybe you are mad at me for bing gone so long and I would not blame you. The Human says she "got out of the habit" after she was sick. I honestly don't know what to do about her. But don't forget about me! It was kinda lonely sleeping on one of the Blue Pillows earlier. XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO
