Long ago and far away, I had a goat furrend named Pricilla. She lived on a farm with the other Happy Goats and four Farm Cats. I never met her in the fur but TW seemed to really like the soap made from her milk. Pricilla is OTRB now although I still wonder how her milk tasted. When I saw that Chewy was offering food made with goat's milk to it's influencers, I knew I had to try it.

We were sent a six-pack of the Solid Gold Purrfect Pairings Savory Mousse with Chicken & Goat Milk Grain-Free Cat Food Cups. You've seen me review Solid Gold food before and it's been hit or miss. I must confess that before I ordered this, I read some nasty reviews of it online. Would I agree?

Solid Gold Purrfect Pairings is an alternative to chunks or pate. They call it mousse but it didn't remind TW of the texture of chocolate mousse. It certainly wasn't creamy.

The first thing TW noticed is that the cups are 2.75 oz., instead of the normal three ounces. There's nothing that gets her madder than seeing companies that cut the size of their products while keeping the price the same. Still she figured it would be a good size for when I wanted an extra snack at night.

So let's get to the benefits of Purrfect Pairings Savory Mousse which is available in six flavors: chicken, tuna, whitefish, salmon, chicken liver and shrimp. All are with goat's milk and all contain tuna. The chicken recipe is formulated with chicken, tuna, potato, goat milk and other vitamins and minerals.

The grain- and gluten-free recipes contain real meal and real goat's milk. This nutritionally complete and balanced meal is perfect for cats and kittens of all life stages. The meal provides a source of essential nutrients in a form that’s gentle on tummies and easy to absorb and digest. It can be served as an accompaniment to dry food or as a tasty treat.

Did I hear the word TREAT? I couldn't wait for her to open it. I was on that package like flies on sherbet. I tried to open the packages by myself. Once TW finally spooned some into my dish, I started licking. Unfortunately, TW started clicking. Click, click went the flashy box. It scared me away.

The next time TW dished that food into my dish, I ran. TW thinks I didn't like the texture of the food.  I like food in gravy and I also eat paté but this felt funny on my tongue. Chicken isn't one of my favorite proteins although I've been eating chicken liver lately.

Anyway, Don't take my word for it. I've read some positive reviews from some of my furrends like Lola the Rescued Cat. I hope Pricilla isn't taking it personally that I wasn't that fond of goat's milk and all that rain today wasn't her crying over uneaten goat's milk.

  6. Good review! We've yet to try a mousse food but since we're still looking for something, anything, Sunny will eat to keep her off kibble, we'll give it a try. Don't like the smaller can size/keeping the price the same trend, though.

  7. Pricilla wouldn't worry much - the Farm cats wouldn't drink her milk! It was nice to see her little face today. You should meow to TW about that flashy box CK.

  8. I'd probably like it. My human wants to get me some raw, for-real chicken liver, BTW!

  10. I don't know about that one CK, we are pate kitties too!

  11. We liked it but we could see that the texture might be confusing to some. Not the usual pate type.

  12. Sorry it wasn't a hit for you. Nice review though. I am sick of everything having less product in the same size container.

  13. I took Pricilla on a long journey once, for days and days and days. And do you know what? She let me have a taste, heh heh. It was delicious.

  14. We are sorry you didn't like the food so much, CK. Thank you for telling us all the flavors have fish in them - we can't eat them for that reason. We hope our other kitty friend will enjoy the food.

  15. Love the fall header, CK! Gotta keep the humans on their toes .... they say we're picky ... we just have taste!

  16. Goat milk, interesting! Sorry you didn't like it so much. Though, sounds like you were very excited as TW was opening it. "Flies on sherbet" line made me laugh. You are so funny :-)

  17. I don't think I would like it, not that we could get it here anyway. I am not picky like my mum says, but I have a discerning taste and only like meaty flakes in plenty of gravy.

  18. That looks pawsome, CK! You really went after it. It must be delicious! Manna and Dexter love goat's milk too. We may just have to check this food out!

  19. Liked your review CK. Well done. It makes me feel good that you say the food is not your cuppa....we don't like everything or we wouldn't be royal cats.

  20. I tried goat's milk with my kitties, and they didn't really enjoy it. Maybe it was just a little too stinky for them. Aren't cats interesting, in all their pickiness?

  21. Olive likes her food in some gravy too. Thanks for the review, CK.
