Stunning Fireworks on Independence Day

I’m celebrating July 4th with my red, white and blue smousy toys. Independence Day means many things to different people/species. As a holiday, citizens in the U.S. of A. celebrate our independence from the British.

Independence Day for me came on January 29, 2006, the day I declared my freedom from the little shelter in Hillsborough, NJ. It’s more commonly known as a Gotcha Day but once we leave their buildings, we also leave behind the confinement, the cages and the sorrow. We enter our new furever homes as rulers of our castles. We become the bosses and the humans best obey us. I purray between now and next July 4th, every shelter cat can celebrate their independence and leave their cages behind.

My peeps aren’t happy this 4th. Macy’s® has decided to screw them out of their semi-private fireworks show on the Hudson River. The powers that be decided for some warped reason to relocate the fireworks to the East River for the next five years! As you know, the peeps go out in the courtyard and enjoy the show with many of our neighbors. You can see a video she took with the Umpire State Building in the foreground last year on YouTube. The human singing in that video is some distant relative of TW’s. This year, unless they can see Jersey City’s display, they’ll be out of luck; but, hey, it’s gonna pour anyway. HAH!

Here’s a stunning fireworks display for them and you.

Have a safe 4th of July! More pets get lost on this holiday than any other so keep your fur children safely at home.

  10. We love the idea that independence day is the day you leave the shelter. We hope your peeps can see the fireworks, even if they took your private display away. At least that means it should be quieter for you, right?

  11. How lucky that your Gotcha Day was the same day you got independence from the cages.

Happy Independence Day to our furiends! We hope you have a safe day and can avoid all of those noise crackers!

Sorry about Macy's... they're always messing stuff up.

  27. That sticks about the Macy's fireworks moving, CK. But things being a little less noisy IS a plus.

Happy Fourth of July weekend! :)

  28. OMC, CK. There is much to do in the next year! I suggest you boycott Macy's since they are not who they used to be anyway. Then get out your realtor hat again and rent the Hudson River condo out for a hefty price, then hop on over to the East River side and find a good deal on a condo over there for the next four years.
And, all the while you are doing that, get an army of pets and pet lovers ready to declare independence. Power to the Paw!

I am going to take a nap now and I suggest you do to.

  29. We don't know how you did that fireworks photo, but it is the coolest thing, and the purrfect way to enjoy fireworks. No noise. XO, Lily Olivia, Maurico, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
